Editorial Policy
This policy explains how Money Map Makers produces and maintains its guides and tools, and the standards our content is held to.
Our scope
We publish guides and a calculator focused exclusively on estimating and planning the cost of international travel for travelers. We do not publish content about investing, credit products, loans, insurance underwriting, or other financial services, and we do not accept input that would push our coverage in that direction.
How guides are produced
Guides are produced under the byline of the Money Map Makers Editorial Team. Each guide is built around a specific, real search intent — a question a traveler is actually trying to answer — and is organized so that question is answered clearly near the top of the page. We avoid padding guides with information that does not serve the reader's underlying question.
How we handle numbers and estimates
Cost figures on this site are estimates, presented as typical ranges rather than fixed facts. We do not claim real-time pricing, and we do not invent statistics or attribute figures to studies that do not exist. Where a guide references a type of source — for example, a national tourism board's published cost guidance — that reference describes the kind of information the estimate draws on, not a specific real-time lookup performed for that page. Full detail is in our Methodology & Sources page.
Independence
Our guides are not paid placements, and we do not accept compensation in exchange for favorable coverage of a destination, airline, or lodging category. Our priority is giving readers a realistic, usable budgeting framework.
Review and updates
Guides are reviewed periodically and updated when cost patterns or our underlying assumptions change meaningfully. Each guide displays both its original publish date and its most recent review date. If you believe a guide is out of date or incorrect, see our Corrections Policy.
Accessibility and clarity
We write in plain English, avoid unnecessary jargon, and structure guides with clear headings, summaries, and examples so they are usable by travelers who are new to budgeting as well as experienced ones.
